Give a brief story of how your blog started

The Static Food Bin was triggered by a sudden impulse. I actually have another blog called The Woof & Sheep Club: Memoirs and Stories;  mostly sharing my childhood and life’s stories. However, I had this very strong urge to create a food blog. This impulse was guided by a wave of inspiration that compelled my whole being. It may have a lot to do with all my Yelp activities- checking in, writing reviews, taking and uploading pictures of food. It just made sense to dedicate a home for my food pictures and writing. It just became a topic that I fervently want to share with others.

Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers

I’m not a pro; however, I learned some important tricks. There are so many advice, but If I had to choose two that I’ve been full on practicing, then here it is:

1.) “Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Do not bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.”― William Faulkner

Do it for fun and for the pleasure of self-improvement. Don’t deter from it because there are already a million other blogs that shares a similar interest as yours. Do it simply because you want to be better at expressing yourself; because you want to get better at writing; because you want to showcase your artistic side; because you want to liberate yourself; because you want to build something that belongs to you and only you.

2.)“Don’t doubt yourself, that’s what haters are for.” ― Turcois Ominek

Believe and trust yourself. Trust that you have a great idea that needs to be brought to life. If people love it, then great. If people hate it; also great. Let your confidence steer the wheel. If this can be done, then you won’t need cheerleaders to root you on nor will you allow negativists bring you down. There are always going to be people who will agree or disagree, but it doesn’t matter as long as you believe in yourself. So honor yourself by paving a road for your creation.

Select a few other blogs you want to give the award to

1.) Petra’s Food Eat Love. Petra and I briefly connected, but I appreciate the time she took to talk to me and others who have shown interest in her recipes/writing. Her blogs/photographs of her homemade food are thoughtful and well-organized.  Most importantly, I see her genuine passion through her hard work.

2.) Randy’s News Notes 1. Randy is expressive, outspoken, and friendly. His blog is multifaceted- full of opinions, poems, and delightful recipes. His enthusiasm shines brightly in his posts.

3.) Genie’s Bunny Eat Design. Genie’s blog is captivating! I truly appreciate her photographs and taste in design format (she is a graphic design artist and has a bunny!). Her blog is well thought out and all her food looks mighty delicious.
