Historically, Mr. Holmes Bakehouse was buzzin’ all over San Francisco (and Korea, too). Now, it has buzzed its way to Highland Park; bringing their miscellany of baked goods that fall between the scales of savory to sweet; crispy to chewy; and traditional to inventive. Not only are their pastries being reproduced in L.A, their long lines comprised of avid foodies has replicated, too.
Mr. Holmes Bakehouse is not your average bakery and they have Cruffins to prove it.
Their Cruffins comes in many flavors and varies by day; however, here are names of a few- Death by Chocolate, Red Wine Spiced Pear, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Orange Cardamom. All are loaded with cream filling that match their profiles. Although they open at 8:00 a.m., the Cruffins don’t make an appearance until 9:00 a.m. It’s guaranteed that there will be a line of eager guests waiting to get a hit of it. It is also guaranteed that these Cruffins will sell out fast. Real fast.
This bakery is brick-built, painted all white, and once you get pass their grandiose door with a handle that says “YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT”, you will encounter a window display of their wondrous medley of baked goods. The interior is infused with hip hop music, natural lighting, and modern décor. Oh, and you cannot miss the “I GOT BAKED IN LOS ANGELES” sign in neon lights as a backdrop. Mr. Holmes Bakehouse nurtures a culture of sophistication with a dash of hood. They get busy quick, but MBH is well equipped with an industrious team to conquer the day.
Have you gotten baked in L.A? If not, then do it soon. If yes, then awesome. Let’s do it again.
