Fantastic Donuts – Koreatown, L.A

It’s most certain that when you see the “animals” that resides in Fantastic Donuts, the words “Awwwwwww” & “It is soooo cute” will slip out of your lips like a banana out of its peel. I’m not a psychic, but I can assure you that it will happen. It is just inevitable. C’mon look at these animals!

Fantastic Donuts is a family-run business that has been around for 25 years, but the animal donuts were born in 2014. It comes in different flavors, fillings, and toppings. These “animals” serve a purpose other than satisfying your belly! Not only are these edible treats, it is also a token of happiness. Donut artist, Lily, intricately designs these with the utmost intentions. With every detail and element in her designs, she always have her customers in mind. She strongly believes in the “ripple-effect theory” that when you bestow happiness upon people, then they will likely pass on the joy to others. It delights her when people chirp with cheer when they see her specialty donuts. Her acts of kindness also entail providing an awesome experience for her customers as well as sneaking some donut holes into their orders. So in retrospect, her benevolence and artistic donuts is her creative strategy of making a difference in the lives of others.

To be honest, my eyes and heart sparkle with glee every time I see these animal donuts on Instagram.  This was the main reason why I wanted to visit Fantastic Donuts in the first place. So when I finally did, I got a dozen to share with my friends! I can attest that Lily’s contribution to the “ripple effect” is working.

In addition to the very cute donuts; Fantastic Donuts still carries classics like the raised, twists, Long John/Bars, jelly-filled donuts, and more! So if I’m looking for cute and traditional, I can count on Fantastic Donuts to meet the benchmarks.

My favorites were the donut hole with the marshamallow topping and the strawberry jam filled donut. You can see more about my thoughts on Fantastic Donuts by reading my Yelp review. Also, you can find me on Instagram by clicking here!

    • Hi Anita! These are too cute, but not too cute to eat! These traditional donuts are good, but flavors aren’t unique (still very enjoyable). It is the design that makes it extremely worthwhile!
