Grilling lobsters over charcoals is not a new thing for the cousins and business partners, Francis Reyes and Johnny Angeles. In fact, it has been looming in their family’s pipeline for over a decade before they introduced it to the public at the OC Night Market in 2014. With the help of their cousin, Loni, and Uncle Ramon; they blew the crowd away with their lobsters. Little did they know, this was only the beginning for Lobsterdamus.
Lobsterdamus @ Smorgasburg, LA. Every Sunday, 10:00 -400 p.m.
Fun Fact: At the beginning, Francis and Johnny named their business “Rockin’ Lobster.” However, the name changed to “Lobsterdamus” due to their love for Flosstradamus, an American musician and DJ.
The celebrity of Lobsterdamus is the Atlantic Lobster from the coast of Maine. It is grilled to perfection over charcoals and daubed with your choice of regular or Cajun butter. The Atlantic Lobster is principally chosen for its unique, meaty, and luscious claws. Other delicious items on Lobsterdamus’s menu are: Lobster Balls, Lobster Truffle Fries, Lobster Nachos, Garlic Noodles, and Seafood Arroz Caldo. If you do not know, Arroz Caldo is a Filipino version of porridge. I’ve eaten many porridges in my life and I must say that Lobsterdamus’s Seafood Arroz Caldo swept me away. I’ve never had porridge with mussels, clams, and lobster in it before. It was definitely my favorite item!
Since their first debut in 2014, Lobsterdamus has been present at numerous festivals and night markets. It was only in June 2016 when they secured a spot at Smorgasburg, Los Angeles. Now every Sunday, they have fresh, wild-caught Atlantic Lobsters between 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Moreover, they still make appearances at the O.C Night Markets, 626 Night Markets, and at other events such as Asian American Expo and Artesia Diversity Festival. You should check out Lobsterdamus’s 2017 calendar for more details.
Francis believes that Lobsterdamus’s strength and success is heavily formulated by the kinship, tenacity, dedication, and support of his team- his family. Not only are they preserving a family’s tradition through Lobsterdamus, it also brings them happiness that they get to share what they love with the world.
