Pan-Fried Spicy Bucatini and Dumplings

Hi, Friends!

It’s good to be back! I hope everyone is doing well and that the holidays is not stressing you out. I really enjoy the holidays; especially the weather. It could be that I live in Los Angeles. As you know, this city doesn’t get much foreplay or action from the cold front. Yes, it has gotten a little cold; but the sunshine is still doing a little flirting with us Angelinos.

I am piggybacking from one my post: Breaking the Month-Long Silence.  At the time, I was taking a break from blogging due to job hunting.

Great News: A little over two months ago, I accepted a job offer from an amazing institution. So yay! The job hunt is over.

Not-So-Good News: During the same time in amidst of my excitement, a very dear and beloved person in my life was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I’ve been dealing with many mixed emotions since,  but mostly I’m just heartbroken. But you know… Life goes on and no matter what, I just have to make the best out of every situation and move forward. Life always have these uncontrollable gimmicks and I truly believe that everything happens for a reason.

So here I am. Moving and trekking forward. I want to share my latest home-cooked meal because you know- this girl has got to eat! I’ve been obsessed with sesame oil and garlic lately. I pretty much add one or the other (sometimes both) to all my creations. I just love the aromatic scent and flavors.

Below is a recipe of my Pan-Fried Spicy Bucatini and Dumplings with Brocolini. I got most of the major ingredients from Milk & Eggs (I’ve talked about this Los Angeles-based online grocery company in this last post). They have an amazing promotion between 12/4-12/8 where you can receive 50% off on your order by using code “HAPPYHOLIDAYS17”! I highly recommend hopping on this deal if you’re in the L.A or O.C area. I already made an order this morning because like I said, this girl has got to eat and I love that it delivers affordable, fresh groceries straight to my home!

Now time for me to to draw the curtains and introduce the AMAZING, MOUTHWATERING BUCATINI AND ITS DUMPLING + BROCCOLINI COMRADES.

Pan-Fried Spicy Bucatini and Dumplings with Broccolini

Items I got from Milk and Eggs:
•             Garlic
•             Broccolini
•             Domenico’s Bucatini
•             Northern Cafe Dumpling Chicken
•             Northern Cafe Dumpling Shrimp, Pork, Egg, ChiveOther Items:
•             Spicy Sesame Oil
•             New Mexico’s Dried Chiles
•             Chicken Broth

Bucatini and Broccolini (15 minutes):

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and throw in the Bucatini and Broccolini (after wash) for four minutes.
  2. Dispose water using a colander and move the Broccolini into a new bowl/plate. Bucatini can remain in colander.
  3. Throw two whole garlic bulbs, five New Mexico dried chili, and 1/3 cup spicy sesame oil in a mini blender. If you do not have this, then you can mince the garlic and peppers. When completed, you can toss it in the sesame oil and stir.
  4. Set aside 1/3 of the sesame oil concoction on the side to use on the dumplings. Pour the rest all over the Bucatini (in colander) and mix. Be sure to have a bowl beneath the colander so that it can catch any extra liquid.
  5. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and fry Bucatini for 5 minutes; toss frequently
  6. Turn off heat

Dumplings (15 minutes):

  1. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat
  2. When hot, add both packs of dumplings
  3. Add sesame oil concoction along with 1/3 cup of chicken broth, cover with lid
  4. Lower heat to medium-low and check often; flip dumplings when skin becomes crispy
  5. Turn off heat when chicken broth evaporated

Serve Bucatini, dumplings, and broccolini on plate/bowl.

This meal can feed up to four servings! Cost: Under $25.00
