Summer appears to have landed in Los Angeles this current week. This past Monday reached the mid-90’s and now us Angelinos are simmering in the high-70’s. Of course it’s not summer yet since the spring solstice still has the spotlight. I’m also not complaining about the heat! In fact, its the heat that inspired me to make these ice pops.
I really enjoy making ice pops because (1.) it’s super easy to make; (2.) there’s less sugar compared to ones bought at stores (3.) It’s mega refreshing; and (4.) it’s a good way to not waste fruits!
If you have been following me, you will not be surprised to see that I got most of my ingredients on Milk & Eggs website (an online grocery company based in LA). I stocked up on Bananas, Chia Seeds, Honeydew, Kiwi, Oat-milk, and Peanut Butter so that I can give rise to the following ice pops- Banana Peanut Butta w/ Chia Seeds and Honeydew/Kiwi… with some dark chocolate chips ( a mistake that you will hear about shortly).
I love most things that are banana-flavored and I’ve been wanting to make this creamy banana ice pop for so long! This is definitely my favorite of the two since it is semi-sweet with a good balance of banana and peanut butter flavors. So delicious! If you look closely, you’ll see that I had added thinly sliced bananas- it’s for looks and textures. Score!
I kinda ruined the Honeydew Kiwi ice pops because I impulsively added the dark chocolate chips thinking that it will make it more “photogenic.” As you can see, that was a mistake (lol). I am not ashamed to admit that my experiment occasionally goes wrong and this happens to be one of ’em. I just care to have fun and go with the flow. Even though the dark chocolate chips didn’t compliment the honeydew/kiwi, the taste is still tolerable (haha).
Overall, I’m pretty glad on how everything turned out. I had more fun taking photos of it more than anything. Which ice pop captured your attention? Let me know in the comments below!
