- Pinch salt
- 2 or 3 metal spoons

- 2- to 3-quart heavy bottled pots

Instruction to Make Homemade Fruits Jams
Cut the berries into large heavy portions, excluding any heavily injured portion. Place a few clean metal spoons in the freezer.
Place the fruit, sugar, lemon, and salt in a 2 to 3 quart heavy bottled saucepan over medium heat and cool the fruit slightly with a potato masher or large fork.
Bring the mixture to a boil and stir often. While keeping the fruit for about 20 minutes until it is juicy and thick, stir it often.
Check if there is a jam set. Remove a spoon from the fridge and dribble a few drops of jam over the spoon. Wait a few seconds, and then run a finger through the jam.
If it leaves a distinct track in the jam, it is done. If it comes back into itself, cook the jam and check again a few minutes later.
Turn off the heat and carefully convert the jam into 2 clear glass jars. Cool to room temperature. Seal with fruit and date, label and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
Homemade Jams Store Process
Once the jam has cooled and kept covered in a clean jar, it can be refrigerated for up to a month or for up to a year. Canning prolongs shelf life considerably.
If you process with the canning of a boiling water bath, you can expect a shelf life of up to two years when stored in a cool, dry place.
